Pakistan Ends Long Wait for International Victory with 3-0 Win Over Maldives
Pakistan’s men’s football team secured a commanding 3-0 victory over Maldives in the Diamond Jubilee Four-Nation Football Tournament, ending a lengthy wait for an international win.
After a goalless first half, young forward Umar Nawaz broke the deadlock in the 54th minute, scoring his first international goal for Pakistan. The strike came in just his second appearance for the national side.
Pakistan extended its lead late in the match when Abdul Samad Arshad scored in the 84th minute, before Harun Hamid added a third goal three minutes later to seal an impressive victory.
The result boosted Pakistan’s hopes of reaching the tournament final, leaving the team with four points from two matches following an earlier draw against Bangladesh. Pakistan will face Afghanistan in its final league-stage match, with a place in the championship decider still within reach.
The victory also marked Pakistan’s first win over Maldives in more than three decades and ended the team’s prolonged winless run in international football.
