France, Spain Suffer Surprise Setbacks Ahead of World Cup
France’s World Cup preparations suffered a setback after a 2-1 defeat to Ivory Coast in an international friendly. Rayan Cherki gave the hosts an early advantage, but Ivory Coast staged a second-half comeback through Guela Doue before Amad Diallo scored the late winner.
The result raises concerns for France ahead of a challenging World Cup group campaign, where they are set to face Norway, Senegal and Iraq.
Spain also endured an unexpected result after being held to a 1-1 draw by Iraq. Ferran Torres opened the scoring for the Spanish side, but a superb strike from Merchas Doski secured a valuable draw for Iraq.
Both European nations will be looking to improve their performances as they continue preparations for the upcoming World Cup.
