Karachi Hospitals Report Surge in Stomach-Related Cases During Eid-ul-Adha
Public hospitals in Karachi recorded a significant rise in patients suffering from stomach-related illnesses during the Eid-ul-Adha holidays, with many reporting vomiting, diarrhoea and abdominal pain.
Medical officials said that more than 50 patients were brought to Jinnah Hospital on the first day of Eid, while Civil Hospital treated over 200 patients over two days with similar complaints.
Doctors reported that a large number of cases were linked to excessive meat consumption during Eid celebrations, combined with low water intake and an unbalanced diet.
Hospital emergency staff noted that symptoms such as indigestion and gastric issues increased throughout the festive period as people consumed large quantities of meat without sufficient vegetables or hydration.
Health experts have advised the public to maintain a balanced diet, including salads, vegetables and adequate water intake, while limiting excessive meat consumption to avoid digestive complications.
