US Praises Pakistan Role in Middle East Peace Efforts as Iran Talks Continue

US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth has described Pakistan as a “true friend” of the United States, praising its role in efforts to support peace negotiations related to the ongoing Middle East conflict.

Speaking at an international security forum in Singapore, Hegseth commended Pakistan’s leadership, including the prime minister and the country’s defence chief, for their involvement in diplomatic efforts aimed at encouraging dialogue between Washington and Tehran.

He said Pakistan was playing a constructive role in facilitating discussions as the US seeks conditions for a potential peace agreement in the region.

Meanwhile, US officials indicated that any agreement with Iran would depend on meeting strict conditions set by Washington, while discussions on a possible deal remain ongoing.

Iranian sources, however, have disputed some of the US claims, stating that differences remain and no final agreement has been reached.

The situation highlights continuing diplomatic efforts amid tensions in the Middle East, with negotiations still underway and a final outcome yet to be determined.
