Fahad Mustafa Urges Punjab Government to Extend Cinema Timings

Actor and producer Fahad Mustafa has urged the Punjab government to review current mall and cinema closing hours, saying the restrictions are affecting the film industry and limiting audience attendance.

In a letter to provincial authorities, Mustafa noted that most cinemas operate within shopping malls and are therefore impacted by early closing policies introduced under energy-saving measures.

He said the reduced operating hours are particularly affecting newly released films that rely on strong public turnout during their initial weeks. According to Mustafa, extending cinema timings could help increase ticket sales, support cinema businesses and benefit workers associated with the entertainment and hospitality sectors.

The actor also highlighted that longer operating hours would offer greater convenience to moviegoers who prefer attending screenings later in the evening.

While appreciating government initiatives aimed at supporting the film industry, Mustafa called for a modest relaxation in cinema timings, saying such a move would benefit filmmakers, cinema owners and audiences across the province.
