PTI’s Asad Qaiser Warns of Possible Exit From Political System Amid Election Dispute Claims

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior leader Asad Qaiser has said his party is “seriously considering” exiting the current political system, calling for a new Charter of Democracy to ensure free and fair elections in the country.

His remarks came after he claimed he was stopped from reaching Islamabad airport in time for a flight to Skardu, where he was due to participate in the Gilgit-Baltistan election campaign. He said he was briefly detained and released only after the flight had departed.

Qaiser questioned the fairness of the electoral process in Gilgit-Baltistan, saying that such conditions make meaningful elections difficult. He reiterated PTI’s demand for a consensus-based political framework and an Election Commission trusted by all parties.

He warned that if political space is not provided, the party could consider withdrawing from the system, though he added that no final decision has been made regarding steps such as resignations or dissolving provincial assemblies.

Responding to the allegations, the Minister of State for Interior said the situation was linked to security arrangements in place in the twin cities and denied claims of political targeting, stating that there was no intention to stop the PTI leader from travelling.

The matter comes amid ongoing political tensions between the government and opposition over electoral fairness and political participation.
