WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump is set to headline a major event on the National Mall next month marking the United States’ 250th anniversary, organisers have confirmed.
The event is part of the “Great American State Fair,” a 16-day programme scheduled to run from June 25 to July 10, 2026, featuring exhibitions, pavilions, rides and concert stages stretching between the US Capitol and the Washington Monument.
However, the celebration has been affected by multiple cancellations from scheduled musical performers, some of whom cited concerns over the event’s political association.
Organisers say Trump will personally launch the anniversary celebrations, though the withdrawal of several artists has raised questions about the concert lineup and overall programme.
The anniversary project is being coordinated through a public-private initiative involving federal agencies and external organisers.
