Junoon frontman Ali Azmat released a new single Yahan Wahan, presenting a politically charged track and a dystopian music video made with a mix of human direction and generative AI tools.
The roughly five-and-a-half-minute video opens with Azmat waking up inside a heavily secured facility, where he is forcibly injected with unknown substances before overpowering his captors and escaping.
As Azmat makes his way through the facility, he encounters human clones suspended in glass tanks and rows of people fitted with virtual reality headsets marked with the word “obey” — imagery built around themes of mass surveillance and brainwashing.
Once outside, he finds a landscape of rubble and ruin, picks up an electric guitar and begins performing as glowing, otherworldly figures gather around him.
The video then shifts into a montage of global suffering: poverty, food insecurity, and climate-driven destruction. Azmat frames the song as a call to dismantle these systems, urging listeners to “break” their shackles and “gather all your might” so that “lives will change for the better.”
