A significant moment in Ontario’s parliamentary democracy unfolded at Queen’s Park as Her Honour the Honourable Edith Dumont, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, presided over the swearing-in of ministers following changes to Ontario’s Cabinet.
The ceremony served as a powerful reminder that government is built not only on political leadership, but also on institutions, constitutional traditions, continuity and public trust.
Under Ontario’s parliamentary system, ministers are appointed by the Lieutenant Governor on the advice of the Premier. The formal swearing-in ceremony marks the assumption of ministerial responsibilities and reinforces the constitutional conventions that provide stability and continuity to the province’s democratic system.
