TEHRAN: Iran’s chief negotiator has said the United States cannot be trusted in ongoing diplomatic efforts, warning that no agreement will be reached unless Tehran’s core demands are fully met.

The statement comes amid continued reports of a revised US proposal aimed at reviving talks over Iran’s nuclear programme and regional tensions. Iranian officials said discussions on the draft text are still ongoing, with both sides proposing changes and no final agreement reached.

Tensions remain high following years of conflict and intermittent military flare-ups in the region. Iran continues to insist its nuclear programme is for civilian purposes, while Western countries maintain concerns over potential weapons development.

Talks have also been shaped by wider regional issues, including security in key maritime routes and ongoing hostilities involving Iran-aligned groups. Iranian officials have stressed that any agreement must safeguard national rights and include economic and strategic guarantees.

Diplomatic negotiations between Iran and the United States are expected to continue, though both sides remain divided on key issues.
