ISLAMABAD: European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas arrived in Pakistan on Monday to participate in the 8th Pakistan-EU Strategic Dialogue.
The high-level dialogue, co-chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Kaja Kallas, serves as the principal platform for discussions on bilateral cooperation and regional issues between Pakistan and the European Union.
During her visit, Kallas is scheduled to meet President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir. She is also expected to engage with representatives from academia and policy institutions.
The discussions are expected to focus on strengthening cooperation in trade, development, climate action, migration and regional stability. Pakistan and the EU continue to maintain close economic ties, with the EU remaining one of Pakistan’s largest trading partners.
The GSP+ trade scheme has played a significant role in boosting bilateral trade, providing preferential access for a wide range of Pakistani exports to European markets.
