Arafat Minhas Makes History with Record ODI Debut Bowling Performance
Pakistani all-rounder Arafat Minhas delivered a sensational debut performance on Saturday, recording the best bowling figures by a Pakistani on ODI debut in the opening match of the three-match series against Australia in Rawalpindi.
The 21-year-old claimed five wickets for 32 runs in his 10-over spell, becoming the first Pakistani bowler to take a five-wicket haul on ODI debut. His figures also set a new national record, surpassing a 41-year-old milestone.
He broke the previous best debut figures held by former pacer Zakir Khan, who took four wickets for 19 runs against New Zealand in 1984. Among spinners, the earlier benchmark was set by Abdul Qadir, who took four wickets for 21 runs in 1983.
Minhas struck early by dismissing Australia captain Inglis and Marnus Labuschagne, before removing Cameron Green for a duck. He later claimed key wickets including Matthew Short and Nathan Ellis to complete his five-wicket haul.
His performance helped restrict Australia to 200 runs, with support from fellow spinners as Pakistan took control of the series opener.
