DUBAI/MUMBAI — Over five decades after Deewaar redefined Bollywood, a die-hard fan and UAE-based businessman, Anil Dhanak, had a once-in-a-lifetime moment meeting Amitabh Bachchan, the actor who became India’s “angry young man.” The encounter marked the 51st anniversary of the 1975 blockbuster that cemented Bachchan’s legendary status.

Dhanak presented Bachchan with a signed canvas inspired by the film’s iconic look. He praised the actor’s humility and professionalism, noting, “He was kind, punctual, and grounded. For someone of his stature, that simplicity is rare.”

Reflecting on the film’s impact, Dhanak said: “Deewaar captured the frustrations of a generation and made Bachchan a cinematic legend. His presence, intensity, and storytelling remain timeless, inspiring fans and actors alike.”

For Dhanak, the meeting was deeply personal. “To go from watching his films in a small-town theatre to sitting with him at his home decades later is something I never imagined,” he said.
