ABU DHABI: The United Arab Emirates has declared that it will not permit its airspace or territory to be used for military operations against Iran, as senior officials outlined a series of security, economic and humanitarian measures during a media briefing in the capital on Tuesday.
Reem Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Co-operation, said the UAE’s stance was “clear and measured,” underscoring that the country would not allow its land or skies to serve as a launchpad for any attack targeting Iran. At the same time, she affirmed the UAE’s sovereign right to defend itself and safeguard the security of its citizens, residents and visitors.
Addressing regional security concerns, Al Hashimy characterised Iran’s ballistic missile programme as a source of instability and a threat extending beyond any single state. She stressed that the security of Gulf nations was “indivisible,” signalling the interconnected nature of regional defence.
The minister reiterated that there was no viable military solution to the current crisis and cautioned that continued escalation would undermine stability across the broader Middle East.
