The Sindh government has secured a province-wide freeze on public transport fares following negotiations with transporters, aiming to shield commuters from the impact of rising fuel prices.

Officials said transporters have agreed to maintain fares at previous levels for both inter-city and intra-city routes despite increased operational costs. The move is part of broader efforts to provide relief to the public, particularly low-income groups.

To support the decision, the government will offer financial assistance and subsidies to transport operators, ensuring services continue without passing additional costs onto passengers. The initiative is expected to cost billions of rupees and will also cover goods transport and other related services.

Authorities stated that the measure is part of a wider strategy to maintain economic stability while easing the burden on citizens, with additional relief programs also being planned.
