ISLAMABAD: A two-day meeting of foreign ministers from Saudi Arabia, Turkiye, Egypt and Pakistan is underway in the capital to discuss regional developments and efforts to ease rising tensions linked to the ongoing conflict involving the US, Israel and Iran.

The high-level talks are focused on promoting dialogue and reducing escalation in the Middle East, where prolonged hostilities have intensified concerns over regional stability.

Officials said Pakistan has played a facilitative role in encouraging communication between key regional and global stakeholders, as diplomatic efforts continue to explore possible pathways toward de-escalation.

Foreign ministers from Turkiye and Egypt arrived in Islamabad ahead of the meeting, while Saudi Arabia’s foreign minister also reached the capital to participate in discussions.

The gathering comes amid broader diplomatic efforts aimed at ending the ongoing conflict, with multiple countries reportedly engaged in backchannel communication to support negotiations.

Pakistan has reiterated its support for peaceful resolution and continued dialogue, while regional partners have also stressed the importance of preventing further escalation.

The meeting is expected to continue over two days, with participants reviewing the current situation and exploring options to strengthen diplomatic engagement in the region.
