Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has issued an open letter addressed to the American public, questioning the justification behind the ongoing US-Israeli campaign against Iran and urging citizens in the United States to reassess Washington’s foreign policy approach.

In the letter, he argued that Iran has historically not pursued aggression or expansion, stating that its actions are driven by self-defence rather than hostility toward other nations.

Pezeshkian said tensions between Tehran and Washington have deep roots, referring to historical events and long-standing political disputes that, in his view, shaped distrust between the two countries.

He claimed Iran has faced prolonged sanctions, military pressure, and external intervention, while maintaining that such challenges have not weakened the country but instead contributed to its domestic development in areas such as education, healthcare, and technology.

The Iranian president further questioned the objectives of continued military pressure, arguing that escalating conflict harms civilians and regional stability while increasing global economic and political risks.

He also called for the American public to look beyond what he described as “misinformation” and to consider alternative perspectives on Iran and its people.

Pezeshkian said the world faces a critical choice between continued confrontation and diplomatic engagement, warning that the consequences of prolonged conflict could last for generations.
