Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar on Tuesday said recent Israeli strikes had complicated efforts to advance ceasefire talks between the United States and Iran, warning that the situation in the region had become increasingly sensitive.

Addressing the Senate, he said Pakistan has been actively engaged in diplomatic efforts since the beginning of the conflict, working to reduce tensions and promote dialogue among key stakeholders.

He noted that the escalation had significantly impacted global energy markets, particularly due to disruptions in a key maritime route, leading to rising fuel prices worldwide.

Dar said Pakistan maintained close contact with regional and international partners, facilitating discussions aimed at de-escalation while carefully managing its role to support ongoing diplomatic progress.

He added that multiple high-level meetings and consultations had been held as part of peace efforts, with several countries cooperating to push for stability in the region.

The deputy prime minister warned that prolonged conflict could have serious economic and global consequences, expressing hope that continued diplomatic engagement would eventually lead to a peaceful and lasting resolution.
