KARACHI: Moro Power Company has signed an agreement with an international renewable energy firm to launch Pakistan’s first business-to-business (B2B) electricity project, aimed at supplying power directly to industries.

The project, approved under Sindh’s provincial power regulatory framework, will enable electricity supply to industrial units in Nooriabad through the provincial transmission network.

Under the first phase, a 100-megawatt hybrid renewable energy facility will be developed, combining wind turbines, solar panels, and battery storage. The initiative is based on a B2B wheeling model, allowing private producers to deliver electricity directly to consumers at competitive rates.

The Sindh government has allocated 300 acres of land in Jhimpir for the project. The planned capacity includes 65MW from wind energy and 35MW from solar power.

The project is being seen as a significant step towards decentralised power generation, as Sindh operates its own regulatory authority with powers over tariffs and electricity management.

Once operational, the project is expected to provide lower-cost electricity to industries while maintaining continuous connection to the national grid.
