ISLAMABAD: Global public sentiment toward Pakistan has reportedly shifted significantly following its diplomatic role in facilitating a ceasefire between the United States and Iran, according to a social listening report cited on Saturday.

The report, based on data from Ipsos, suggests that online perception of Pakistan moved from largely negative in late March to predominantly positive after the announcement of a 14-day ceasefire earlier this month.

It notes that initial reactions to Pakistan’s mediation efforts were marked by skepticism, with concerns raised internationally over political instability, regional tensions, and questions about neutrality.

According to the analysis, negativity was particularly visible in the United States, India, and within Pakistan itself. However, sentiment changed sharply following the ceasefire announcement on April 8, which triggered renewed global discussion around Pakistan’s diplomatic role.

The report highlights increased positive engagement online, with praise directed at Pakistan’s leadership for facilitating dialogue and helping prevent further escalation of conflict. It also notes emerging optimism regarding potential economic benefits linked to regional stability.

Social media activity reportedly reflected growing recognition of Pakistan’s role as a mediator in the crisis, with discussions focusing on diplomatic coordination and regional peace efforts.

As negotiations continue in Islamabad between US and Iranian delegations, the report indicates a broader shift in international perception of Pakistan’s role in regional diplomacy.
