HAMILTON — Devon Conway’s unbeaten 60 helped New Zealand level their five-match T20 series against South Africa, defeating the Proteas by 68 runs in the second game at Seddon Park on Tuesday.

After being sent in to bat, New Zealand posted 175-6, with Conway hitting five fours and two sixes. Josh Clarkson added 26 not out, while Wiaan Mulder took 2-14 with the ball.

South Africa struggled from the start, losing early wickets and being bowled out for 107 in 15.3 overs. Ben Sears and Lockie Ferguson claimed three wickets each, exposing gaps in the visitors’ batting lineup. George Linde top-scored with 33, but the team never recovered from 31-3.

Both sides fielded largely second-string lineups, resting key players following the T20 World Cup. Conway, who did not feature in the World Cup, praised the chance to contribute: “It’s been nice to come back and play and be able to contribute for the boys and the group.”

The series decider will be held in Auckland on Friday.
