ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Capital Territory Administration has revised business operating hours across the city as part of energy conservation measures linked to rising fuel prices and supply pressures.

According to an official notification effective from June 1, 2026, markets and shopping malls in the federal capital will be required to close by 8pm. The decision applies to all major commercial centres, while essential services have been exempted.

Under the revised schedule, pharmacies, hospitals, and medical stores will continue to operate without restrictions. Petrol pumps and CNG stations will also function as per routine timings.

Restaurants, food outlets, grocery stores, bakeries, and fruit and vegetable shops have been directed to close by 10pm. Wedding halls, marquees, and related event venues will also follow the same closing time.

Authorities said the measures are aimed at reducing energy consumption and managing peak-hour electricity demand amid ongoing fuel cost pressures. The new restrictions follow a series of adjustments to commercial timings in recent months as part of broader energy-saving policies.
