At least 45 people have died and 105 others injured in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after heavy rains caused roof and wall collapses across multiple districts since March 25, according to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).
Officials said the deceased include children, men, and women, while a large number of children are among the injured. The rain-related incidents have also damaged over 400 houses, with several completely destroyed.
Affected districts include Bannu, Peshawar, Mardan, Swat, Swabi, and others across the province. Rescue and relief operations are ongoing in coordination with local administrations and emergency services.
Authorities have dispatched relief supplies to the affected areas and directed district administrations to speed up assistance efforts.
The PDMA has also warned of another spell of rain in the coming days and urged citizens to avoid unnecessary travel, especially in vulnerable and tourist areas. Emergency response systems remain active, with a helpline available for public assistance.
