(Web Desk) – Actor Mahira Khan has highlighted the absence of a proper royalty system in Pakistan’s entertainment industry, saying that while leading stars manage to sustain themselves, many crew members and junior artists continue to face financial difficulties.

During a promotional interview for her upcoming film, she pointed out that the current revenue distribution in the industry is highly uneven and leaves behind those working behind the scenes.

She stressed that a structured system is needed to ensure fair compensation, noting that television channels and production houses generate significant revenue, while many artists remain without long-term financial security.

Mahira Khan said a formal royalty mechanism could provide basic protection for performers and support industry workers who often struggle despite their contributions.

She also referred to earlier public discussions on the issue, including appeals from senior artists in the past, which had sparked debate but led to little structural change.

Her remarks have renewed attention on earnings transparency and the need for fairer profit-sharing within Pakistan’s entertainment sector.
