Beijing: China’s Foreign Ministry has rejected media reports alleging that a leading Chinese semiconductor company supplied chipmaking equipment to Iran, calling the claims false and misleading.
The report, which cited unnamed US officials, claimed that Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC) had begun transferring chipmaking tools to Iran around a year ago and that such activity had not stopped.
Chinese officials dismissed the allegations, stating that some media outlets were circulating information that appeared credible but was inaccurate upon verification. No further details were provided.
The semiconductor firm in question did not respond to requests for comment.
China, a key diplomatic partner of Iran, has repeatedly called for de-escalation in the ongoing regional conflict and has urged all sides to pursue dialogue and peace negotiations.
Beijing has also maintained that it does not support attacks on regional states and continues to advocate for restraint and diplomatic resolution amid rising tensions in the Middle East.
