Ottawa / Toronto — Pakistan Day (March 23) was marked with remarkable dignity, enthusiasm, and patriotic fervour across Canada, as vibrant ceremonies in Ottawa and Toronto brought together members of the Pakistani Community to celebrate the historic spirit behind the creation of Pakistan.

The day began with flag-hoisting ceremonies, where the green crescent flag soared high, and the air resonated with powerful slogans of unity and pride. The events reflected not only a remembrance of history but also a renewed commitment to the ideals that shaped the nation.

Addressing a distinguished gathering in Ottawa, Pakistan’s High Commissioner Muhammad Saleem подчеркнул the significance of March 23 as a defining moment in history. This is a day to celebrate the courage, vision, and unity that laid the foundation of Pakistan, he said, emphasizing how faith and determination transformed a dream into a sovereign nation.

In his remarks, the High Commissioner paid heartfelt tribute to the founding fathers, acknowledging their extraordinary sacrifices and unwavering resolve. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s dedication to socio-economic development, regional harmony, and meaningful engagement with the global community. Highlighting the strengthening ties between Pakistan and Canada, he pointed to growing collaboration in trade, investment, education, and cultural exchange. He also commended the Pakistani origin in Canada for their vital role in fostering these bilateral relations.

Meanwhile, in Toronto, Pakistan’s Consul General Khalil Bajwa echoed similar sentiments, reflecting on the historic vision behind Pakistan’s creation a homeland where Muslims could live with dignity, freedom, and self-respect. He honored the sacrifices of those whose relentless efforts made this vision a reality.

The ceremonies also featured messages of national leadership, reinforcing a collective resolve to carry forward the vision of the founding fathers and to build a strong, prosperous Pakistan.

Adding an international dimension to the celebrations, Canadian provincial representative Stephanie Bowman extended her warm congratulations on the occasion. She highlighted the enduring relevance of the guiding principles of “Faith, Unity, and Discipline,” and paid tribute to the visionary leadership of Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

On this occasion, Trade Commissioner Altamash Janjua conveyed special messages from Pakistan’s leadership, including Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, President Asif Ali Zardari, and Ishaq Dar, reaffirming their commitment to national progress and unity.

Members of the Pakistani diaspora expressed pride in their heritage and emphasized their role in shaping the future. They noted that overseas Pakistanis continue to nurture future leaders, innovators, and responsible citizens who will carry the nation forward with knowledge, integrity, and ambition.
