Karachi Police Announce Traffic Plan for Youm-e-Ali Procession

KARACHI: Traffic authorities in Karachi have issued a comprehensive traffic management plan ahead of the main mourning procession for Youm-e-Ali, which will take place on March 11 (21st Ramadan).

The day is observed every year on the 21st of Ramadan to mark the martyrdom of Ali ibn Abi Talib, and large processions are held in different parts of Pakistan to commemorate the occasion.

Officials stated that the central procession will start at 1:00 pm from Nishtar Park and will move along its traditional route before concluding at Imambargah Hussainia Iranian in Kharadar.

Due to the procession, MA Jinnah Road will remain closed for general traffic from Guru Mandir to Tower. In addition, Corridor Three, stretching from Saddar Dawakhana to Regal, will also remain closed for traffic.

Authorities said that vehicles coming from District Central will be diverted from Lasbela toward Nishtar Road and Garden. Meanwhile, traffic arriving from Liaquatabad will be redirected from Guru Mandir toward Lasbela and Garden.

Commuters traveling from Hasan Square to Peoples Chowrangi have been advised to take alternative routes including New MA Jinnah Road, Jail Flyover, Teen Hatti, and Nishtar Road.

Traffic on Shahrah-e-Quaideen will not be allowed to move beyond the Society Light Signal.

Vehicles that are part of the procession and have special passes will be permitted to enter through the Society Light Signal. Meanwhile, vehicles carrying Niaz and Sabeel arrangements will be allowed entry from MA Jinnah Road near Tower.

Traffic police officers will be stationed at diversion points and along alternative routes to assist commuters and maintain smooth traffic flow.
